When Is the Best Time

In general, the best time is the dry season from December to April. However, in the opposite olive ridley turtles lay their eggs at Hacienda Baru's private beach in the rainy season. Also, reptiles and amphibians are more abundant during this time of the year. However, September and October are the wettest months of the year.

The Hacienda Baru was our personal highlight on four weeks vacation in Costa Rica. You have everything on this truly beautiful lodge. The owner and his team walk an extra mile for their guests but also for the nature to protect the wildlife, their awesome private rainforest, and the turtles at their private beach. The food was excellent always freshly prepared. And while eating we often had two chestnut-mandible toucans nearby in the trees. We only spent one night here, but you even don't get bored during an entire week. Birding is outstanding, the hiking trails on their property are excellent to experience the forest and wildlife. Baby turtles hatch on their beach from September to November so nesting season is 45 to 60 days before. More information can be found here Hacienda Baru
